Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How long does it take to install an inground trampoline?
A typical installation is done in a full day's work. Our goal is to start in the morning and to complete the installation in the same day. That way to you can begin jumping and making backyard memories as soon as possible (weather permitting).
Is there a free consultation?
Yes, we provide a free phone and/or video consultation.
Do I need to contact Digger's Hotline?
The excavator on our team handles all of the work necessary to keep our staff and your family safe during installation.
What if my yard is sloped?
Yes, you can install on a slope as long as the area for the trampoline is level. For safe jumping, the top-rails supporting the jumping surface of all trampolines must be set in a level plane, a minor sloping area can be adjusted with the depth to which the frame is set. In all situations of extreme sloping areas, the area should be leveled before the excavation process. Your installation team will work with you to determine if additional excavation is needed and the associated cost.
Leveling up to a 7.5% slope is included in the Pro Installation Package.
Should I get a round or rectangular trampoline?
Both are great choices for your backyard. The shape often comes down to two factors: performance and backyard size/shape.
Round is the most common shape for trampolines. Round trampolines provide an excellent jumping area with a large “sweet spot” in the center. Their shape tends to pull jumpers back to the middle where the jump mat provides the best performance.
Our most popular model, the rectangle, provides an excellent jump experience and rather than a single “sweet spot” the jump mat provides great balance wherever the jumper is on the mat. Rectangle trampolines are more often used in sporting activities such as tumbling, gymnastics and cheerleading. Some prefer the rectangle shape for activities related to dance and sports such as football and basketball have also started to use rectangle trampolines to help players improve jumping strength and coordination.
The additional factor for your trampoline choice may come down to the shape and size of your backyard. Rectangle trampolines fit nicely with geometric lines of a yard like fence lines or a round trampoline if you have curves.
What size trampoline should I purchase?
Our advice on size is simple. You will never regret going with the largest trampoline that will fit reasonably in your backyard. We recommend this regardless if your children are young. Trust us, they will grow into a larger size trampoline. There is no need to upsize as your children get older, you will be happy investing in a slightly larger trampoline now that will provide years of enjoyment.
What do I need to do the day of installation? Do I need to be home?
Yes, we do require that an adult (18 years or older) resident of the home be onsite the day of the installation. Ensure accessibility for the installation team prior to their arrival. The installation team will meet with you before the project starts and once the installation is completed.
How long after the installation can I begin using our trampoline?
As soon as the installation is completed you will have full access to your trampoline and can begin jumping immediately! There is no waiting required following the installation process.
What happens to the dirt from the installation?
Homeowners can choose to keep the soil onsite from the excavation (basic install package), or the soil can be taken offsite with a Pro Installation Package.
Is special drainage required to prevent water from pooling under the trampoline?
Special drainage is not required but will be recommended under your In-Ground Trampoline. In installation packages, a bed of medium gravel, several inches deep will provide a better base than just soil alone. Pro installation also includes a Soakaway or commonly known as a French drain.
If drainage is deemed necessary, a sump pump can easily be added to remove additional water. Our kit includes a sump crock to collect water, sump pump (120V outlet not included), check valve, piping and installation.
Do weeds grow under the trampoline?
We highly recommend installing weed barrier, which is included in the pro installation package to prevent growth of weeds, etc. post installation.
What services are includes post installation?
The actual trampoline mat and pad have a 3-year warranty, the springs have a 10-year warranty and a lifetime warranty for the frame. There is also a 1-year warranty on the installation.
What can I do to care for my trampoline so it will last?
Our backyard trampolines are designed to handle the elements. However, there are steps you can take to extend the life of your trampoline. Keep your trampoline clean. We recommend you wash the frame pad & jump bed a few times a year with a mild soap & water. After cleaning, spray the frame pad (spring cover), and the vinyl outer ring of the jump bed with Formula 303®. Formula 303 is similar to Armor All®, with the exception that it contains a UV treatment. We recommend you use this formula once a month. Keep your trampoline away from an open fire and cover your trampoline during the 4th of July! One weakness ALL trampolines suffer from is hot ashes landing on the jump bed. This will burn a hole in your trampoline immediately. Also, Wisconsin winters can be unpredictable, we recommend you take the jump mat and safety pad inside during snowy winter months (see below).
It snows where I live, should I take it down in the winter?
We recommend you take it down, unless it will be used during the winter. The main issue with keeping a trampoline up during the winter is the weight of the snow, not the cold. No trampoline should be loaded with an extreme weight of snow and ice. A heavy, wet snow piling up on your trampoline can easily exceed the resting tear limit of your trampoline. If you choose to keep it up in the winter, it is crucial you sweep off the snow with a broom. DO NOT USE A SNOW SHOVEL! A snow shovel will rip right through your jump bed. If the trampoline is not being used, take it down to increase the life expectancy. We recommend you take down the frame pad, jump bed, and springs. These items will store easily in your home or garage. Store your jump bed in a sealed box or tote. You can keep the frame up in the winter. If you have an enclosure, you can either disassemble the entire unit, or just take down the netting, and slide the foam pads up over the poles. Leave the metal poles on, and take down everything that is not metal. Please ask about our winterization services for your trampoline.
Do I need an enclosure for my inground trampoline?
This is one of the most frequent questions we receive regarding inground trampolines. Safety nets were designed to keep jumpers from falling from a 3-foot high platform of an above ground trampoline. A major advantage of an in-ground trampoline is that there is no 9-foot high trampoline/net structure obstructing the view of a beautifully landscaped backyard.
The answer comes down to a number of factors. First, are there obstacles (rocks, trees, walls, drop-offs) near the trampoline? If yes, we highly recommend an enclosure. Secondly, what is your comfort level as a parent? This is the hardest question. We find that with inground trampolines, customers install enclosures about 10% of the time. Ultimately, each parent must make this decision for their family.
Is a safety net sold with an Avyna In-Ground Trampoline?
Safety nets are not included but available for all sizes and are sold separately. Avyna has an excellent Safety Net which can easily be installed with the original installation or at a later date if one is deemed desirable.
